OG-TYPE, N.Y.C. TRICOLOR SIGNALS

This style of signal was used on the NYC lines and has often been called the NYC style signal.  Because it has no moving parts and therefore low maintenance, many railroads have been substituting the G-Type signal wherever signals need to be updated.  There are a variety of G-Type signals depending on track configurations.  The targets for the OG-25 and OG-35 can be mounted on the left or on the right when facing the target.  Please indicate L or R in place of the asterisk* when ordering.  These are modeled in the modern Safetran style signals.  Each of the signals comes with about 18 inches of wire allowing it to be modified for use on a bridge or bracketed tower.

6930 SINGLE TRAGET MAST SIGNAL

6934 4-PACK OF 6930s

This signal would be used as an intermediate block signal, at the end of a stub siding or at a crossover.  It displays all 3 colors giving the automatic sequence Clear, Stop, Approach and Clear.  Most railroads that buy the G-style signals use the OG-25 and OG-35 signals at the end of passing sidings for an Absolute Stop indication.

OG-15 BI-DIRECTIONAL MAST SIGNAL

This signal would be used as intermediate signals on any main line for both directions with no sidings or diversions.  It displays all 3 colors giving the automatic sequence Clear, Stop, Approach and Clear for both directions.  The railroads save time and money to build and maintain signals by having both targets face opposite directions on one mast and ladder.

OG-25* DOUBLE TARGET MAST SIGNAL

This signal is necessary to display a double red for an absolute stop.  It would be used anywhere medium or restricted speeds would be necessary.  One example would be coming off a siding onto a main line.  Notice the bolt detail and the detailed hole covers (called blanks) on the upper signal face where the green and yellow lights would normally be placed.  This signal would give you the automatic sequence of Medium Clear, Stop (absolute), Restricted and Medium Clear.

OG-35* DOUBLE TARGET MAST SIGNAL

This signal is also necessary to display a double red for an absolute stop.  It would be used on a main line where a siding or secondary route entered.

Notice the detailed hole cover (called a blank) on the signal face where the green light would normally be placed on the lower target.   This signal would give you the automatic sequence of Clear, Stop (absolute), Approach and Clear.

OG-45   DOUBLE TARGET MAST SIGNAL

This signal would be used on the main line where the train had a choice of 2 different routes.  One choice would be the main line and would be displayed on the upper target.  It will give you the same automatic sequence as the 6930 above.  The other would be for a diverting route and would be displayed on the lower target.  It will give you the same automatic sequence as the OG-25 above.  Some examples would be approaching a junction, an interlocking, a diverging route or passing siding.

OG-55* TRIPLE TARGET MAST SIGNAL

This signal would be used on the main line where the train had a choice of 3 or more different routes.  One choice would be the main line and would be displayed on the upper target.  The other would be for a medium speed diverting route and would be displayed on the middle target.  A third choice may be a crossover from one main to another and then a following diverting

route.  This would display the automatic sequence as Slow Clear, Stop (absolute), Restricted and Slow Clear.  Some examples would be approaching a yard, an interlocking  or a junction with more than one diverting route.

Each of these signals, above, comes with ladder, railing, and platform detailing for each target!  Signal controllers will be included with the O-gauge signals. The lights are high intensity LEDs with clear lenses. This gives the "uni-lens" (non-color) look with a true searchlight effect. They will be painted black on top and silver on the bottom as is prototypical.

Each of the ground signals comes with at least 18 inches of wire so that they can be mounted on a bracketed tower or bridge for double track main line operation.

The number of aspects that can be displayed on any of these signals can be increased by using a BSF-1, Block Signal Flasher board for any selected target.
