This is a list of Custom Signals and other manufacturers Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) used for the signal system

BSC-1 BLOCK SIGNAL CONTROLLER

This controller was designed for the O-Scale, G-Style signals.  It will work for most signals with individual green, yellow and red LEDs.  If the resistors are by-passed, it will also drive signals with 5V bulbs.

BSC-2 BLOCK SIGNAL CONTROLLER

This controller was designed for the O-Scale, SL Searchlight style signals.

BSC-3 BLOCK SIGNAL CONTROLLER

This controller was designed for the O-Scale, PRR Position Light Signals.  It will work for most signals with all yellow LEDs.  If the resistors are by-passed, it will also drive signals with 5V bulbs.

BSC-4 BLOCK SIGNAL CONTROLLER

This controller was designed for the PRR Position Light Dwarf .

0234 HO-SCALE SIGNAL CONTROL BOARD

This controller was designed for the HO-Scale, G-Style signals.

These are available with signals purchased only.

2234 N-SCALE SIGNAL CONTROL BOARD

This controller was designed for the N-Scale, G-Style signals.

These are available with signals purchased only.

TSC-3 TURNOUT SIGNAL CONTROL BOARD

When a train comes to the point of a turnout, there is a possibility of it going in two different directions, the main route or a diverting route.  The signal system must also be able to look down either direction depending on which track the turnout is set for.  This is what the TSC does.  It switches the signal system’s connections depending on which route the turnout is facing, main line or diverting route.  You will need some method to indicate when the turnout is set for the diverting route.  This can be a single pole contact on your switch machine or some other devices designed for this purpose.  This will tell the TSC which direction the turnout is set and will adjust the signals in both directions.

TDC-1 TUMBLE-DOWN SIGNAL CONTROL BOARD

The TDC-1 controls the signals of a bidirectional single track line between passing sidings.    It will give a clear signal to the train that approaches the single track first and stop signals to hold opposing trains.  Once the first train clears the single track, it gives a clear signal to the next train.  This PCB is used for Absolute Permissive Block Signaling.  It will also control the signals at a rail crossing diamond.

BSF-1/2/3 BLOCK SIGNAL FLASHER BOARDS

These PCBs will integrate into the modular system.  These  will expand the available aspects by flashing the red, yellow or green lights of any single target to create various additional aspects.  It will work with any of the individual ground, bridge or dwarf signal lights.  It can be activated by block occupancy, turnout direction or manual control.

The BSF-1 is for the OG, NS and B&O signals.

The BSF-2 is for the PRR signals.

The BSF-3 is for the SL, OD, SP and NYC signals.

The BSF-HO is for the HO-Scale signals.

The BSF-N is for the N-Scale signals.

GCF-1 GRADE CROSSING FLASHER/DETECTOR

Custom Signals developed the GCF-1, a new flasher unit to accompany the wide variety of GRADE CROSSING SIGNALS we now offer.  This flasher will alternate your lights at full prototypical speed.  It will also “ramp up” and “ramp down” the lighting for either bulbs or LEDs to give the effect of the real lights used on the railroads.  It even has the capacity for driving two Lionel #153 crossing signals so toy operators no longer have to rely on the old track activators.

Also built in is prototypical approach detection.  Instead of using one long insulated rail and having to wait for the train to clear it, you can divide that insulated rail into two or three sections.  The outside sections will be the approach zones and activate the crossing signals from either direction as far away as you wish.  The middle section will be the crossing zone and will keep the signals on until the train just clears the crossing and then it will shut off the signals.  You do not have to wait until the train clears the opposite approach zone for the signals to shut down.  Even if the train reverses direction after passing through the crossing zone, the detector will turn the crossing lights back on for the train passing over the crossing again!  This will give you a much more prototypical operation.  Tubular track owners and 2-rail operators (in any scale) can use this detection by incorporating a separate detector.

BELL-1 GRADE CROSSING BELL SOUND

This is a prototypical grade crossing bell.  It will work off of the GCF-1 or can be used independently.  It has an adjustable volume control and speaker included.  Add sound and bring your grade crossing to life.

ACB-1 AUXILIARY CONTOL BOARD

It is designed to operate off of the low voltage, low current signal system PCBs and control higher voltage, higher current accessories.

At this time, this is a future production PCB.  Samples are being produced for test applications.

DT-1 CIRCUITRON FULL LOGIC GRADE CROSSING DETECTOR

This is one option for grade crossing detection for 2 rail DC trains.  It works with opto-sensors for full logic detection without cutting the rails.

DT-3R 3-RAIL GRADE CROSSING DETECTOR

This unit will provide prototypical, advanced warning from either direction for grade crossing signals or gates (see the GCF-1 above).  This was originally designed for the ROSS CROSSING GATES, but will work with any flasher unit.  It was designed for insulated rail detection, but will also work with contact switches or relays.    It can be used as an add-on unit for a third track operation of the GCF-1 above.  If you already have a grade crossing installed, you can have the advanced detection of the GCF-1 by using this unit.  For a complete review see O Gauge Railroading issue #165, April 1999.

DT-4 CIRCUITRON ROLLING STOCK DETECTOR

This unit provides the modeler with an ideal independent system for detecting a train or piece of rolling stock in any location.  The DT-4 is actually four independent detection circuits on one board.  The detection unit could be used for a variety of purposes including activating the GCF-1, GRADE CROSSING FLASHER/DETECTOR with two rail trains, light up a control panel, substitute for insulated rail detection in areas with many turnouts or activate accessories.

OS-1 OPTO-SENSOR

Additional opto-sensors for any of the Circuitron Products

7935 ATLAS CURRENT SENSING DETECTOR

Even though the controllers above have built in 3-rail detection, they can be used in all scales.  To detect trains in other scales, Atlas built the 7935.  It detects current passing through an engine, caboose or any piece of modified rolling stock for non-insulated, tubular 3-rail track or 2-rail DC operators in all scales.  This is not recommended for DCC operators.

BD-20 NCE CURRENT SENSING DETECTOR FOR DC OR DCC

This is another current sensing detector for 2 rail operation.  It will work with DCC because there is no interruption of the feed wire going to the track.

BD-20P NCE CURRENT SENSING DETECTOR WITH ADJUSTABLE POTENIOMETER

This is the same as the BD-20 above with an adjustable POT soldered in place.  In most cases, the BD-20 will work fine.  Sometimes you can get false reading because of the differences in the track, ballast, humidity, dirty wheels and other conditions.  The POT allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the detector.  It will work with DCC because there is no interruption of the feed wire going to the track.

DALLEE ### CURRENT SENSING DETECTOR

Future item

BD-1 CIRCUITRON OPTO-SENSOR DETECTOR

This is another option for 2-rail detection.  It works with Opto-Sensors located between the ties at each end of a signal block.  It is activated by the train entering the block and deactivated by the train leaving the block from either direction.  It will connect directly into the Din on the signal system.

#6924 ATLAS NON-DERAIL CIRCUIT BOARD

The Atlas-O Non-Derail Circuit Board adds enhanced operating features to the Atlas-O and most other brands of switches.  It also allows power routing of closure rails.  It works with TMCC, DCS, DCC and standard AC/DC control systems.  It also has the output necessary to send the turnout direction indication (SW) back to the Custom Signals Turnout Signal Control Board.

#6931A ATLAS DWARF CONTROL BOARD

This is the board that comes with the 6931 Atlas Switch Signal.  These can be used in parallel with the Atlas switch machine to give the turnout indication (SW) back to the TSC on the signal control panel.  I have a very limited number of these.
